KCA Deutag subsidiary Bentec has secured a contract to deliver seven so-called cluster slider rigs for Russian producer Irkutsk Oil Company’s oilfield service unit INK.
The multi-million euro deal entails delivery of the “state-of-the-art” 320-tonne land rigs that will be used on Irkutsk’s oil and gas exploration and production drilling operations in the Irkutsk region of Russia and republic of Sakha.
The rigs will be manufactured at Bentec’s fabrication site in Tyumen, Russia, using high-tech equipment supplied from its home base of Germany, and will feature advanced software solutions to optimise drilling performance.
The first three rigs are due for delivery next year, with the remaining units to be delivered in 2021.
“We know the Russian market very well and our innovative drilling rigs are ideally suited to the extreme weather [that] Russia experiences,” Bentec chief executive Dirk Schulze said in a statement, adding that INK would be a new client for the company.
