Transocean said that Burullus Gas Company has opted to terminate a rig contract for the drillship Discover India that was to be used off Egypt.
Burullus is a joint venture comprising Shell, Malaysia’s Petronas and state-owned Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, which operates the Egyptian West Delta Deep Marine concession.
The drilling contractor's February fleet status indicated the operator had previously extended the contract from April to August 2020 at a dayrate of $170,000 before its recent change of plans.
