Many Chinese offshore yards have halted or slowed fabrication activities as efforts to contain the deadly novel coronavirus have kept workers and engineers at home, interrupting progress on offshore units destined for large oil and gas projects around the world.
Yards have frozen or reduced work on units including floating production, storage and offloading vessels intended for operation in Brazil or Guyana, and modules for the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia, five people familiar with the situation told Upstream.
