The first of two massive liquefied natural gas floating storage units for deployment in the Russian Arctic is nearing completion at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for a possible delivery this month, despite delays to Russia’s next-up LNG project.
The sister ships Saam FSU and Koryak FSU are set to become the focal points of two transshipment hubs.
Some sources said the Saam FSU is scheduled to be delivered first this month, and towage of the unit to Ura Bay, near Murmansk, northwest Russia, is expected in the first half of the year.
