Jack-up drilling rig owner Shelf Drilling has secured a one-year contract with Chevron for one of its jack-ups to operate offshore Angola.
The contract for use of the jack-up Shelf Drilling Tenacious is expected to begin in January 2022 and includes multiple option periods, said Shelf.
The jack-up has been idle since April 2021 when it completed a contract with Masirah Oil offshore Oman.
David Mullen, Shelf's chief executive, said: “The rig will be highly customized for Chevron’s operations in Angola including enhanced offline capabilities similar to our rigs working for Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. We are excited to continue to build on the success of our operations in Thailand and delivering value to CABGOC (Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Company) in Angola.”
The Shelf Drilling Tenacious is a Baker Marine Pacific 375 design jack-up.
