Norwegian shipbuilder Vard has won a contract to design and build two construction service operations vessels (CSOVs) for compatriot Rem Offshore.

The contract, worth an indicative total of about €100 million ($118 million), includes an option for two additional vessels, according to Vard's owner, Italian industrial giant Fincantieri.

The vessels will be based on the Vard 4 19 design and tailor-made for worldwide operations and maintenance at offshore windfarms.
