South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries is offloading its its offshore-focused shipyard investment in China, quitting a decades-long business to allocate more resources into the domestic shipbuilding effort.

The decision to close Samsung Heavy Industries Ningbo Ltd later this month triggered protest from workers, many of whom had been earning a living with the company since 1995.

Workers holding banners this week at the yard voiced their concerns chanting: “SHI is my home, I need job and feed my family.”
