SBM Offshore is considering placing an order for another floating production, storage and offloading vessel within the Dutch floater specialist's Fast4Ward series, with Chinese yards in the frame.
Asian contracting sources familiar with SBM’s contracting strategy told Upstream that the company is already close to pinning down a yard to build a new hull under its highly-standardised Fast4Ward design concept.
The vessel will be the latest in a series of Fast4Ward ordered by SBM, which has previously selected two yards in China — Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and China Merchants Heavy Industry — to build six hulls, with topsides to be built either in China or Singapore.
