Qatar's North Oil Company has awarded a new three-year contract to a Japanese offshore drilling rig company for the continued supply of a jack-up at the Al Shaheen oilfield.

The jack-up Hakuryu-10 is owned by Japan Drilling Company, which said its new contract would start in the second quarter of 2022 in direct continuation of its existing agreement with North Oil Company.

The new contract has a three-year firm period plus two one-year options.

Japan Drilling also has a second jack-up Hakuryu-12 working for North Oil Company, which is a joint venture between TotalEnergies and state giant Qatar Petroleum that operates the Al Shaheen field, Qatar's largest oilfield.
