Oslo-listed BW Offshore has secured a temporary extension to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel lease contract offshore West Africa, while the operator determines the future of the deep-water field the FPSO has been working for years.

At the end of February, the Norway-headquartered player had five of what it described as "non-core" FPSOs on its books that were awaiting potential contract extensions or which were being touted for new work.

If unsuccessful, BW Offshore will either sell vessels to interested parties or for scrap.
