BP has brought on board an artificial intelligence management platform to help its customers predict, control and optimise energy consumption and, as a result, carbon emissions.

The supermajors’ investment arm, BP Ventures, has invested in Grid Edge – an energy management platform that uses AI to assist users in making the most of their own energy assets.

Grid Edge, spun out of the Energy Research Institute at Aston University of Birmingham, in England, was developed by three university students in 2016.
