A serious incendiary incident has occurred at other offshore platform owned by Mexican oil giant Pemex, according to reports by several domestic media outlets, although not yet confirmed by the state-run oil company.

The fire reportedly hit the Octli platform in the early hours of Saturday morning and the incident was widely mentioned in online posts, some of which showed the blazing platform from the perspective of an offshore supply vessel that was reportedly used to evacuate the workers.

The incident was reported by specialised and regional Mexican publications and follows two other accidents involving Pemex installations in the Gulf of Mexico in the space of little more than a year.
