Repsol Sinopec Resources UK has been warned by the North Sea safety regulator after a "contained" gas leak occurred from a subsea pipeline near the Claymore platform in the North Sea at the start of the year.
The affected infrastructure, located around 4.5 kilometres south west of the Claymore platform, was isolated and production suspended temporarily as a precaution, the operator confirmed.
HSE said Repsol Sinopec failed to “adequately identify, control, monitor and review” the risks associated with ageing pipeline infrastructure coming towards the end of its service life, which eventually failed.
