Typhoon Muifa has caused the floating production, storage and offloading vessel for BP’s Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project to drift about 200 metres off the quayside at a shipyard in Qidong, China.

Typhoon Muifa passed through the Cosco shipyard in Qidong on 15 September where the FPSO is being built, said Kosmos Energy, a part owner in the GTA project offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

During the typhoon, the mooring lines of the FPSO became compromised, resulting in the vessel drifting about 200 metres off the quayside, Kosmos said on 16 September when work was under way to enable the vessel to return to the quayside.
