The Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union (AMWU) has called for an independent investigation into repairs carried out Chevron’s Gorgon liquefied natural gas project in Western Australia.

Chevron revealed Monday that production at Train 2 had resumed after it took several months to repair cracking found on heat exchangers during routine maintenance in July.

“We remain unsatisfied with Chevron reporting on itself and repeat our call for an independent investigation by the regulator,” AMWU state secretary Steve McCartney said following Chevron’s announcement.
