It wasn’t all that long ago that the Haynesville shale was considered a bust. Production was almost exclusively dry gas, it was more expensive than other gas plays, and it lacked a market.
Today, the Haynesville is in demand.
Improvements in hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling have made the play cheaper and more efficient to produce. Its location — north-west Louisiana and north-east Texas — also makes it a great source for liquefied natural gas export terminals on the US Gulf Coast.
