Great Eastern Energy Corporation (GEECL), India's first private sector coalbed methane producer, plans to drill an additional 144 wells in its flagship domestic Raniganj (South) asset in West Bengal.
Chief executive Prashant Modi said the company has won approval for a total of 300 wells at the CBM asset from the Indian government, out of which 156 have already been drilled.
However, Modi did not disclose a timeline for drilling of the additional wells at Raniganj (South), saying only the company has plans to ramp up its domestic CBM production over the next few years.
