On 5 December, offshore liquefaction of natural gas became a reality. That was when the world’s first drop of liquefied natural gas to be produced aboard a floating facility emerged from the train on Malaysian vessel PFLNG Satu.

Now the vessel’s facilities are moving towards full production testing. Then its storage tanks should start to fill in earnest, in preparation for a first offloading to visiting carrier in the first quarter of 2017 that will mark the start of true commercial operations here for operator Petronas.
