The new Petroleum Act will focus mainly on production sharing contracts, profit-sharing, royalties and income tax, according to Cambodian National Petroleum Authority (CNPA) director general Te Duong Tara.

Cambodia does, however, intend to keep the laws flexible to encourage foreigners to invest and explore in areas of interest to them.

"The CNPA has indicated its willingness to be flexible and proactive when considering any proposals for investment in the petroleum sector," senior minister Sok An said.
