It is another sign of how rig companies are attempting to keep their fleets working as operators press them to lower dayrates.
Ensco 104 was to work for ConocoPhillips under a dayrate in the mid-$240,000 range.
However, the rate was reduced to the mid-$220,000 level. In exchange, the contract termination date was pushed back from October 2009 to January 2010.
The jack-up had been earning a rate in the high $250,000 range working for BP off Indonesia before that contract ended in March.
