Indonesia is offering two non-conventional blocks as part of its 2018 licensing round, despite the lacklustre response to offers of such acreage in recent bidding exercises, writes Amanda Battersby.

The Sumbagsel block onshore South Sumatra is said to be prospective for coalbed methane, while Sumut Tenggara in North Sumatra has shale oil and gas potential. Both of these assets are up for grabs via the direct tender process.
