Japan Petroleum Exploration Company (Japex) has started commercial operations at its Soma liquefied natural gas terminal in the country's Fukushima prefecture, writes Amanda Battersby.
Soma is the first large-scale LNG terminal in the prefecture.
It includes a 230,000-kilolitre storage tank — one of the largest in Japan — two berths for LNG carriers of up to 210,000 cubic metre capacity and LNG vaporisation equipment.
