Ineos Shale will be hoping it still has a prayer of getting a planning application to drill a well in the UK after local fracktivists enlisted the support of Buddhist monks linked to the Dalai Lama to support their fight against exploration work.

The Gyuto Monks, who live in exile in India, visited the proposed well site on petroleum exploration and development licence 304 near Woodsetts in South Yorkshire last weekend following an invitation from protest group Woodsetts Against Fracking (WAF).
