North Sea operator Nexen has been sanctioned by the UK authorities following a diesel spillage at the Buzzard platform, writes Rob Watts.
UK regulators said 1.42 to 2.69 tonnes of diesel found its way into the sea when a diesel storage tank was overfilled on 1 December last year.
Enforcement action has now been taken against the Chinese-owned company by the UK Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment & Decommissioning (Opred), according to information just posted on the regulator’s website.
