Australian regulator National Offshore Petroleum Safety & Environmental Management Authority (Nopsema) is evaluating Lattice Energy’s plans for the latest drilling campaign on its producing Thylacine-Geographe gas condensate development in the Otway basin off the states of Victoria and Tasmania, writes Amanda Battersby.

Lattice, wholly-owned by Australian independent Beach Energy, has proposed drilling up to seven development wells and abandoning three existing subsea wells in Commonwealth waters of the Otway basin.

The operator plans to abandon the Thylacine-1, Geographe-1 and Geographe-3P wells, while the proposed firm development wells, which might be sidetracked, are Thylacine North-1, Thylacine West-1 and Geographe-5.
