A last-ditch attempt by mediators to head off a strike by 35,000 workers in Norway, which would hit the country's oil and gas industry, was under way as Upstream went to press.
Norway’s main labour bodies — the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) and the Confederation of Vocational Unions (YS) — warned 28,900 and 6000 workers, respectively, will walk out on 8 April unless a settlement is reached in the state-led arbitration talks by a 7 April deadline.
