As many as 30 companies have completed the pre-qualification process to take part in Round 3.1 of Mexico’s licensing process, writes Gareth Chetwynd.
The list, released by Mexico's National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH), includes companies such as Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell, UK supermajor BP, French supermajor Total and US supermajors Chevron and ExxonMobil.
Malaysian state player Petronas was joined by Colombia state company Ecopetrol, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Italian major Eni, UK independent Premier Oil and Spanish major Repsol.
