Thailand's PTTEP has added two new offshore exploration permits to its portfolio in Malaysia where it recently acquired an interest in Malaysia's ninth liquefied natural gas train, writes Russell Searancke.

The award of shallow-water blocks SK417 and SK438 off Sarawak was confirmation of the Thai company's success in Malaysia's 2017 exploration bidding round.

PTTEP said it had been awarded an 80% operating interest in both permits, with Petronas Carigali on 20%.
