Malaysia's Sapura Energy has sanctioned the initial development phase of gas fields within Block SK408 off Sarawak, writes Russell Searancke.
Sapura’s wholly-owned subsidiary Sapura Exploration and Production has a 40% interest in the permit, with partners Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell and Malaysian state oil company Petronas Carigali holding 30% each.
The initial phase involves the development of the Gorek, Larak and Bakong fields via three wellhead platforms and the rejuvenation of Shell’s nearby F6 platform.
