The US rig count climbed by another six units in the latest week to 990.

Within the total, rigs chasing oil climbed by four for a total of 800, which represents an increase of 169 from the year before, according to the latest weekly rigs report from services giant Baker Hughes.

Meanwhile, the number of rigs drilling for natural gas increased by one to reach 189, up 32 from the same time in 2017, while a miscellaneous rig was also added to the total.
