Michael Hess, son of US independent Hess’ chief executive John, drew celebrities and royalty to his wedding last weekend in Italy to British fashion designer Misha Nonoo.
US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka turned up with husband and senior White House aide Jared Kushner to the swanky event at Villa Aurelia in Rome on Saturday, media reported.
Also in attendance to watch the heir to the Hess Corporation tie the knot were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, after Nonoo reportedly set the pair up on their original date. Both Mickey - as he is known – and Misha attended the Royals’ wedding in Windsor, UK last year.
Other British royals to turn out in the Italian capital were Princess Eugenia and Princess Beatrice, while American singer Katy Perry attended with British actor fiance Orlando Bloom.
The younger Hess is the grandson of the eponymous company’s founder, Leon, who set up Hess Oil & Chemical Corporation in the 1930s. Harvard educated, Mickey Hess is said to have worked in finance.
Father John steers a company that has a heavy presence in the US onshore and the US Gulf, but the current jewel in the crown is the 30% stake the company holds in the ExxonMobil-operated prolific Stabroek block off Guyana, where the partners recently unveiled their fourteenth discovery.
