The move is unlikely to impress Indian group ONGC Videsh, which acquired stakes in blocks 5B and 5A from Austria's OMV last May in a deal approved by the oil ministry in Khartoum.
One source in the Block 5B consortium which also includes Petronas Carigali, Sudapet and Lundin Petroleum said he had no knowledge of any such deal. "This is the first I've heard of it," he said.
