The crisis over Iran's nuclear programme has in recent weeks reached a stage where somewhat unexpectedly all sorts of opportunities have arisen for Tehran and its Western critics to resolve their differences, thus opening the way for a long list of vital energy projects promoted by Opec's second-biggest producer to get off the ground.
Until early this month, the crisis appeared headed for, at best, UN sanctions against Iran, and, at worst, some sort of US military action against Iranian nuclear and other facilities.
