Malaysian operator Tamarind Resources has confirmed it plans to drill several offshore wells at its producing Tui oilfield off New Zealand.
The company hopes to drill between two and four sidetrack wells in early 2019 from existing wells. It has just started the process of gaining regulatory approvals through an application to the New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority.
An offshore drilling rig will be required and it is understood that other operators will utilise the same rig once Tamarind has completed its Tui programme.
