The co-owners of the Ophir shallow-water oilfield off Malaysia have given up on trying to restore production, and are hoping to terminate their risk service contract with Petronas.

The co-owners are Australia’s Octanex and Malaysian companies Scomi Energy and Vestigo Petroleum.

The field was shut in on 8 January 2018 after only three months of production, and efforts to restart output have not been successful, while post-drill review studies point to lower than expected oil production, said Octanex.
