Bangladesh’s state-owned Petrobangla has signed a 10-year deal to buy 1 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas from Oman Trading International.

This deal is Bangladesh’s second long-term contract, having last year signed a 15-year agreement for 2.5 million tpa of LNG from Qatar.

The terms of the Oman LNG purchase deal have earmarked 500,000 tpa subject to completion of Bangladesh’s maiden LNG import facility and a second tranche of 500,000 tpa subject to completion of Summit Group’s floating storage and regasification unit.
