“Eventually, 60 to 65 blocks will be offered after clearances are obtained,” said Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Veerappa Moily at the Petrotech 2014 conference, adding that “more blocks would be added in the coming days”.
The initial offering covers 14 deep-water blocks, 15 shallow-water blocks and 17 onshore blocks. The government is opening up exploration blocks across 13 sedimentary basins, including Mumbai, Krishna Godavari (KG), Andaman, Cauvery, Kerala Konkan and Gujarat Offshore.
