A recent company directive ruled that the size of such events should not exceed 150 people or 15 tables for banquets.
The problem is that Chinese weddings often number more than 1000 people or 100 tables.
It has also banned multiple celebrations for some events, such as weddings, where newlyweds normally celebrate twice if their in-laws live in different cities.
Invitations should not be extended to people who provide a service to the hosts, or if they are the hosts’ juniors or seniors at work, or people from other Sinopec divisions if the hosts work at the company headquarters.
