Australia has nine liquefied natural gas trains and one giant floating LNG vessel at various stages of construction that, once on line, will cement its position as a global LNG powerhouse, but it is difficult to know when the next greenfield or brownfield LNG project will occur.

Bechtel is building one train each for the Santos-led Gladstone LNG project and ConocoPhillips’ Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), and two for Chevron’s Wheatstone scheme, while the Kellogg Joint Venture Group is building three trains for Chevron’s Gorgon project, the JKC joint venture is building two for Inpex’s Ichthys, and Technip and Samsung Heavy Industries are working on the Prelude FLNG vessel for Shell.
