Start-up of the rig contractor’s $1.2 billion contract with the UK supermajor at the Quad 204 redevelopment project has now been pushed back into early next year as a result of the December incident in which the rig took in water while moored at quayside at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.*
The GVA 7500-design harsh-environment semi-submersible newbuild, ordered by Oslo-listed Odfjell at a reported cost of $626 million, was originally due to be delivered in May ready to start drilling work at the project to redevelop the Schiehallion and Loyal fields off the UK under the lucrative seven-year deal.
