The US independent wants to sell its 57%interest in the Cheng Dao Xi (CDX) field in Bohai Bay that started commercial productionmore than a decade ago, Wall Street Journal reported.
Noble has hired Lazard to seek a buyer forthe acreage that sits in just 7.6 metres of water and that is the explorer’ssole producing asset in China.
The operating stake is held throughsubsidiary Energy Development Corporation with Sinopec holding the remaining43%.
