The TLP, with a production capacity of 250 million cubic feet of gas and 40,000 barrels of oil per day, will come onstream in the second quarter of 1999. ABB claims Marlin's water depth of 3240 feet will make it the deepest TLP installation to date. Amoco's choice of ABB for the job was bad news for Norway's Aker Maritime group, whose spar-design production platform was the only other shortlisted proposal for the Marlin project.

US MAJOR Amoco has placed a $300 million turnkey award with ABB Lummus Global for the design, construction and installation of a tension leg platform for the Marlin field in the Viosca Knoll area of the Gulf of Mexico.
