The 1970-built floater is being assessed at Cosco-owned Guang­zhou Dockyards Company Ltd after China National Offshore 
Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and ConocoPhillips decommissioned it from the Xijiang 24-3 field in the South China Sea last month.

Sources said CNOOC’s FPSO operator CNOOC EnerTech is 
considering overhauling and 
upgrading the unit to work at the Enping oilfield development 
between 2012 and 2013.

Enping was discovered this year in the Pearl River Mouth 
basin’s Enping Trough in the 
eastern part of the South China Sea and holds estimated reserves of about 30 million cubic metres (190 million barrels) of oil.
