Barrow Island will be the site for the three-train 15 million-tonne-per-annum LNG facility, domestic gas plant, LNG loading facility and carbon dioxide injection plant.

Chevron said said construction of the project will take about five years with first gas due in 2014. Major fabrication activity is expected to begin in the second half of 2010.

“Since the Gorgon project was sanctioned in September, preliminary site works have commenced,” said Roy Krzywosinski, managing director of Chevron Australia.
