Sources said a final investment decision on Bonga SW — which extends into Chevron operated acreage where it is called Aparo — could even come in 2012.
However, that is a date that one project watcher viewed as being “extremely unlikely”, largely because it is unclear when Nigeria’s Petroleum Industry Bill will become legislation.
Shell originally began prequalifying contractors for Bonga SW-Aparo in 2005 but unitisation issues with Chevron, among other things, put paid to that earlier plan which was then based around a leased floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
