Reliance and ONGC lead India’s rig race

ONGC presently operates more than 30 offshore rigs, the largest number in the South Asian region.

Its rig fleet includes more than two dozen jack-ups, along with mid-water floaters and the ultra-deepwater drillship Platinum Explorer.

However, industry experts suggest ONGC’s rig needs are likely to increase next-year as it starts development drilling at KG-DWN-98/2, its flagship deep-water block off the east coast.
