Shell has previously warned the market that the Malaysia liquefied natural gas Dua production sharing contract, which was signed in June 1993 and expires on 21 May 2015, was unlikely to be extended by the Malaysians.
Shell holds 15% interests in the Dua and Tiga LNG plants, which are two of three that make up Petronas’ LNG complex in Bintulu. There are seven producing fields associated with the production sharing contract that is expiring — they are B11, B12, G7, M1, M3, M4 and Shallow Clastics.
