TECPETROL, the oil and gas division of Argentine engineering giant Techint, has emerged with one of the most aggressive visions of what can be done in the country's Vaca Muerta shale, writes Gareth Chetwynd.

Tecpetrol staged a pilot project on the Fortin de Piedra block, and was sufficiently encouraged to announce a $2.3 billion investment project this March.

The company is spending about $30 million per month and is set to triple that by October, as it increases its focus, according to Jorge Dimopulos, Tecpetrol’s new business director for E&P.
