Wintershall Noordzee is hoping to reach a final investment decision on its cross-border Sillimanite gas field development in the southern North Sea following the recent signing of a treaty between the UK and Dutch governments.

Martin Bachmann, exploration and production executive director at BASF-owned Wintershall, the German oil company that is a 50:50 partner in Wintershall Noordzee with Russia's Gazprom, said the treaty, needed because Sillimanite straddles the two nations' maritime border, has now been finalised.
