The company said a competent persons report, produced by independent consultancy Senergy, stated that the gross unrisked total prospective resource of 1.5 billion barrels was based on 30 potential traps containing a best estimate of 50 million barrels each.
The study considered the block, which lies adjacent to the border with Egypt and Libya, to be frontier but with high reward hydrocarbon exploration potential.
